Behind the Beans

We named this coffee after two distinctive things about Colombia: The Andes, a mountain range in Colombia, and the emeralds that are known to be found in this region.

These beans come from the Nariño department, which was named after a Colombian patriot and champion of human rights in Latin America. This region is relatively far from the rest of the country and has a diverse geography and varied climate according to altitude.

Nearly 90% of coffee from this region is harvested from April to August and the rest comes from the mitaca or fly crop harvested between December and February. Sourced from small family farms, each producer picks and processes their coffee in their home-based wet mill and then dry on elevated tables, often inside solar dryers.

Grind Types Explained
Why Does Grind Type Matter?
Grind size affects the extraction rate of the coffee and therefore affects the flavor of the final brew. Because of the water flow rate and pressure variations between brew methods, different grind sizes suit different brew methods better. You'll want to pick the right one for optimum flavor.
